All semi-cured gel brands are created differently and that’s cool because so are we! Are you wondering whether to opt for thick or thin semi-cured gel nails? Here's a rundown of the pros and cons of

Thicker Semi-Cured Gel Nails

Pros:

  • Give you durable, strong nails that are less likely to break or split
  • Provide a more traditional gel manicure look with a built-in taper
  • Builder gel and top coat are not required, saving time and money

Cons:

  • Can be a bit trickier to mold and stretch onto the nail
  • May take a bit longer to cure to perfection

Pros:

  • Have more give and stretch, making them comfortable to wear
  • Cure quickly and hard, so they won't chip or peel easily
  • Unlikely to snag hair around the cuticle area

Cons:

  • May not provide as much support for natural nails
  • May need a builder gel or topcoat for a polished finish

Whether you opt for thick or thin semi-cured gel nails is a personal preference and really depends on what your manicure needs are. Both have their pros and cons, and you just need to figure out what works for you. I enjoy them all, personally!
